This innovation supports Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), Target SDG 12.5, which aims to reduce waste through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse by 2030. RICOTO BIO has developed biodegradable and plastic-free straws using natural and renewable materials. We tested and compared different bio-straw samples based on their appearance, strength, water absorption, temperature resistance, and decomposition time.   Beetroot and  murunggai (moringa) leaves are used as natural ingredients and colours in making the bio-straws and three types of flour.  Overall, RICOTO BIO is a can contribute to reducing plastic pollution and creating a cleaner and healthier environment
