ABSTRACT

SMART WUDUK & SOLAT QUEST (SWaSQ): AN INNOVATIVE GAMIFICATION APPROACH TO ENHANCING ISLAMIC WORSHIP SKILLS AMONG PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Mastering ablution (wuduk) and prayer (solat) is fundamental to Islamic Education. However, conventional teaching approaches may limit student engagement and practical understanding of these essential religious practices. Smart Wuduk & Solat Quest (SWaSQ) was developed as an innovative game-based learning tool integrating board games, challenge cards, interactive quizzes, practical demonstrations, and reward-and-penalty mechanisms. This innovation aims to strengthen students' knowledge, practical skills, motivation, and active participation through enjoyable, student-centred learning experiences.

The effectiveness of SWaSQ was evaluated among 30 Year Four students using pre- and post-intervention assessments conducted over two weeks involving four learning sessions. Findings demonstrated significant improvements in student performance, with the percentage of high-achieving students increasing from 20% to 73%, while the percentage of low-achieving students decreased from 37% to 0%. Additionally, the average assessment score improved from 6.4 to 14.2 out of 15.

The novelty of SWaSQ lies in its integration of theoretical knowledge and practical worship assessments within a structured gamification framework. Collaborative challenges, immediate feedback, and progressive learning activities promote meaningful engagement while reinforcing correct worship procedures. Its reusable, adaptable, and user-friendly design supports implementation across different learning environments and student proficiency levels.

Overall, SWaSQ demonstrates strong potential to enhance Islamic worship education through interactive and experiential learning. Its scalability and commercialisation potential make it suitable for wider adoption in primary schools, KAFA classes, and Islamic educational institutions, contributing to more engaging, effective, and sustainable teaching practices.
