NUR HANNA HUMAIRAH BINTI ISMAROZI SMK SULTAN IDRIS SHAH II
SMART-A (Small idea, Big impact) is a team from SMK Sultan Idris Shah II, Gerik, that developed three low-cost STEM innovations to solve real problems in the school environment. Magnetic Sweeper is a robotic sweeper that uses a magnet to collect screws and nails from workshop floors while sweeping, saving time and reducing the risk of injury. SENTRY (Smart Environmental Navigation and Threat Recognition Yield) is a robot that detects student movement in designated areas to help teachers monitor attendance and movement within the school. ECOBIN-X is a smart bin with a touchless automated lid and automated sorting, which reduces physical contact and the spread of germs. The innovations are built from accessible materials such as Arduino Uno, ultrasonic sensors, servo motors, AA batteries and Mr DIY robot kits, and are programmed in Arduino C/C++ using the Arduino IDE. Each product integrates science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and has commercialization potential for school workshops, vocational training centres, boarding schools, hostels and public areas.
