The EcoCool Box is an innovative, low-cost food preservation system that uses the principle of evaporative cooling to keep food cool without electricity. The system consists of two unglazed clay pots of different sizes, with the smaller pot placed inside the larger one. The gap between the pots is filled with sand and kept moist with water. A wet cloth or lid is placed over the inner pot to help maintain the cooling effect. As the water evaporates through the porous outer clay pot, it absorbs heat from the inner chamber, lowering its temperature. This project aims to reduce food spoilage, save energy, and provide an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional refrigeration, especially in rural areas and places with limited electricity. A thermometer can be used to monitor the temperature inside the EcoCool Box and compare it with the surrounding room temperature. The EcoCool Box demonstrates how basic scientific principles can be applied to develop a sustainable, affordable, and practical food storage solution. However, its effectiveness depends on environmental conditions, particularly humidity, airflow, and temperature.
