Smart Hygiene Shield is an innovative touchless automatic handwashing system developed using ultrasonic sensor technology and micro V2 to improve hand hygiene among school pupils. It was created after observing that many pupils wash their hands for only 3 - 5 seconds and do not follow proper handwashing steps. The system ensures pupils wash their hands for at least 20 seconds through visual guidance on an LED matrix and real-time audio instructions. This innovation promotes proper hygiene habits, reduces the risk of infectious diseases, and makes handwashing more engaging. It also serves as a STEM learning tool by combining sensors, programming, and real-life applications.
