Navigating a large campus can be challenging for students, especially when classrooms, laboratories, and facilities are located across different buildings and floors. Conventional map applications are mainly designed for outdoor navigation and may not provide detailed indoor directions, making it difficult for users to determine which corridor, staircase, or lift to use.
Our project proposes an indoor campus navigation system that helps users locate their destination and find the shortest walking route within the campus. Users can select their current location and destination, after which the system displays the recommended route on a digital campus map. The map provides a visual layout of buildings, rooms, corridors, staircases, and lifts, with the selected route highlighted for easy navigation.
The system represents the campus as a connected network of pathways and locations across different floors. It determines a suitable route based on available pathways and connections, then provides step-by-step directions, including turns, walking distance, floor changes, and whether to use a staircase or lift.
The proposed system aims to reduce the time spent searching for classrooms and facilities, particularly for new students and visitors. Future developments could include real-time positioning, accessibility routes, and temporary route closures.
