ABSTRACT

The Smart Resilient Living System for Home Safety Using ESP32 and Blynk is an Internet of Things (IoT) based monitoring and early warning system designed to enhance residential safety and environmental monitoring. This project aims to develop an ESP32-based system capable of monitoring floodwater levels, waste bin fill levels, and ambient light conditions. The system integrates an ESP32 microcontroller with a water level sensor, an HCSR04 ultrasonic sensor, and a light-dependent resistor (LDR) to collect real time environmental data. The Blynk IoT platform enables remote monitoring and provides notifications through a smartphone application. When predefined thresholds are reached, the system activates LED indicators and a passive buzzer to provide local alerts, while relevant information is displayed on an OLED screen. Additionally, the system incorporates an automatic street lighting function that controls lighting operation based on ambient light conditions. The system was programmed using the Arduino IDE and connected to the Blynk platform via WiFi. Model testing demonstrated that the system successfully detected changes in water levels, waste bin fill levels, and ambient light conditions. The LED indicators and buzzer responded to predefined threshold conditions, while the OLED display presented relevant monitoring information. The Blynk platform supported remote monitoring and delivered smartphone notifications under the tested conditions. The automatic street lighting function also responded to changes in ambient light levels as programmed. Overall, the results demonstrate the feasibility of integrating multiple residential safety and environmental monitoring functions into a single ESP32-based IoT system.
