BAKER’S DECOMATE: AN INNOVATIVE CAKE DECORATING ORGANIZER

Baker’s DecoMate is an innovative workstation designed to assist Bakery and Pastry students, particularly beginners, in organizing and accessing cake decorating tools more efficiently. Students often face difficulties in managing decorating equipment, resulting in cluttered workspaces, reduced focus, and less efficient decorating processes.

This innovation integrates multiple storage and functional features into one practical unit, including piping bag holders, a nozzle storage drawer, a mobile phone holder, tissue and parchment paper holders, and a rotating cake board. These features are designed to improve workspace organization, facilitate easy access to equipment, and support a smoother cake decorating process.

A preliminary time comparison indicated that the average time required to locate decorating tools decreased from 60 seconds to 35 seconds, representing a 41.7% reduction in retrieval time. Baker’s DecoMate also has commercial potential among Bakery and Pastry students, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, and home bakers. Future improvements may include a tablet holder, a mobile phone charging port, and an adjustable-height cake board.

In conclusion, Baker’s DecoMate offers a practical solution to improve organization, save time, and support the development of cake decorating skills. This innovation also supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing practical learning experiences in technical and vocational education.
