The I-Wiring Kit is a learning innovation developed to assist first-year Malaysian Vocational Certificate (SVM) students in understanding the layout and connections of lighting and single-phase power circuits. This innovation stemmed from the observation that new students struggle to grasp wiring circuit layouts through theory alone, have difficulty identifying cable connection terminal positions, and fail to understand the operating concepts of single-phase circuits. The I-Wiring Kit combines QR code technology—displaying videos demonstrating correct wiring connections—with a banana plug system that allows students to physically practice circuit connections. The innovation's uniqueness lies in its blend of digital visual learning and hands-on practical experience, enabling students to visualize, comprehend, and attempt circuit connections themselves with greater ease and confidence. Its development utilized the ADDIE model, comprising five phases which is analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The I-Wiring Kit has the potential to help students understand electrical circuit connections in a manner that is simpler, more visual and interactive. Furthermore, it supports practical-based learning, the use of digital technology, and self-directed learning, all of which align with TVET educational requirements. Overall, the I-Wiring Kit is expected to serve as a practical, systematic, and engaging teaching aid for learning single-phase electrical wiring.
