The Philippines depends on imported rice grains with the total rice projection reaching 19.99 million metric ton. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the Philippines has earned the title of the World's Top Rice Importer. What an irony isin't, from self-sufficiency to dependency. When it rains, this is a problem. Farmers struggle to gather all the rice grains which can result into grain deterioration such as molds, spoilage, and discoloration. So, as a solution, we built PALAY. PALAY is short for Para ang Lahat ay Yayabong, or in English, For Everyone to Prosper. It is a cost-effective and practical alternative as it is a combination of technology, AI, innovation, and traditional methods to solve post-harvest issues. It is an IoT based microweather station built using the ESP32, programmed to respond to the identified needs. It can detect rain, light intensity, wind speed, temperature, and humidity. PALAY also supports SDG 12, Responsible Production and Consumption.
