Financial Risk Management is a core subject in business and finance education, yet classroom lectures, textbooks, and case studies rarely translate theoretical concepts into real-world understanding. As a result, students often grasp financial risk concepts in theory but struggle to apply them when facing real-world uncertainty and multiple risk factors. This project aims to (i) develop an experiential learning tool that translates financial risk theory into practical decision-making, and (ii) provide educators with a measurable means of assessing students' risk management competency. Ri$iKO: The Financial Risk Board Game is an educational board game integrating credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk into gameplay. Starting with RM20,000 capital, players make investment decisions using market event, risk, compliance, and opportunity cards, balancing risk and return while managing diversification, liquidity, and insurance. Grounded in Game-Based Learning and Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory, Ri$iKO includes a player tracking sheet enabling lecturers to assess decision-making, functioning as both a teaching and assessment tool. The game strengthens financial literacy, higher-order thinking, and classroom engagement, supporting Outcome-Based Education and graduate employability. With strong potential across universities, secondary schools, and corporate training, and planned digital, multilingual, and ESG/Islamic Finance extensions, Ri$iKO bridges theory and practice to develop a financially informed, risk-aware generation. t Here!
