This experiment was conducted to investigate the relationship between tissue thickness and the rate of water absorption. The objective was to determine whether thinner tissue absorbs water faster than thicker tissue. The materials used were two tissues of different thicknesses, two transparent glasses, and coloured water. Both tissues were placed into glasses containing equal amounts of water. Observations were recorded for 30 seconds. The results showed that water moved upward through both tissues, but the thinner tissue absorbed water more quickly. In conclusion, tissue thickness affects the rate of water absorption through capillary action within the tiny pores of the tissue.
