Single-use plastic pollution and unmanaged food waste cause severe environmental degradation and soil acidification. Project Bumi-Box resolves these challenges by engineering a 100% circular, biodegradable container upcycled from organic food waste. Synthesized from a biopolymer matrix of prawn-derived chitosan and eggshell calcium carbonate plasticized with glycerol, the structure withstands compressive loads up to 88.5 N. An internal 0.2 mm organic beeswax lining provides hydrophobic resistance against hot liquids (55°C for over 240 minutes). Embedded with dormant plant seeds, Bumi-Box neutralizes soil pH from 4.9 to 6.5 upon burial, converting food packaging into an active ecological restoration system.
