Food waste, food insecurity, and environmental sustainability are interconnected global challenges that require practical solutions. EcoBite is an innovative community-based application designed to reduce food waste, promote sustainable food choices, and connect surplus food with people who need it. The application integrates four key features: Food Rescue Hub for donating and collecting surplus food, Carbon Footprint Tracker for understanding carbon emissions and water usage, Leftover Chef AI for generating recipes from available ingredients, and Hunger Map for connecting users with nearby food-support resources. User evaluation showed encouraging results, with 62.5% of respondents satisfied with EcoBite, while 60% identified leftover-recipe recommendations as an impactful feature for reducing food waste, followed by environmental-impact information at 57.5%, locating excess food at 55%, and connecting with food donors at 50%. Aligned with SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 13: Climate Action, EcoBite demonstrates how technology can connect food, people, and the planet to reduce waste, support communities, and encourage more sustainable food practices.
