Eco-Spark is an innovative sustainability project that explores the development of compact fire-starting bricks using repurposed waste materials. This innovation addresses the increasing accumulation of discarded materials and encourages creative approaches to converting suitable waste into useful products.The main objective of Eco-Spark is to investigate the potential of waste materials in developing a practical tinder brick for controlled outdoor fire-starting applications. The project promotes the principles of resource conservation, recycling and sustainable product design.Through this innovation, pupils explore material properties, responsible waste management and the scientific principles of combustion. The development process encourages observation, experimentation, teamwork and problem-solving, with any combustion testing requiring appropriate adult supervision and safety precautions.Eco-Spark supports SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting resource reuse and hands-on scientific learning.In conclusion, Eco-Spark demonstrates how discarded materials can inspire functional product innovations while encouraging environmental awareness, scientific curiosity and responsible resource management.
