Abstract
Poultry farming requires suitable environmental conditions to ensure that chickens remain healthy and
grow well. However, monitoring environmental conditions manually can be difficult, especially when
changes in temperature, humidity or ammonia levels occur without being noticed. Therefore, SMACT
(Smart Monitoring for Chicken Farms Technology) was developed to help monitor the environmental
conditions inside the chicken farm more easily. SMACT uses an ESP32 together with several sensors
to collect information such as temperature, humidity and ammonia gas levels in real time. The collected
information is sent through a wireless connection and displayed on a mobile application. With this
application, users can check the condition of the chicken farm more easily without having to carry out
manual inspections all the time. The system will also send notifications when the environmental
conditions reach an unsuitable level. In addition, the system provides a fan control function to help
maintain better ventilation inside the chicken farm when needed. SMACT was developed to help Wan
Brothers Legacy monitor the condition of the chicken farm and reduce the need for continuous manual
inspection. Overall, the system can help users identify environmental changes earlier, take suitable
actions and maintain a more comfortable environment for the chickens. This project uses the Agile
methodology to ensure that the development process is carried out in stages and in an organized manner.
Each part of the project is developed, tested and improved based on the requirements and feedback
received throughout the development process. In the future, SMACT can be improved by adding several
additional functions such as an automatic feeding system, scheduled and automatic water supply, and
an automatic farm cleaning system. These improvements can reduce manual work, help control the
accumulation of chicken waste and ammonia gas, also maintain a cleaner and more comfortable
environment for the chickens.
